Tuning and Calibration
Technical precision in the service of music. Every note, perfectly tuned.
Learn About the ProcessThe Tuning Process
A methodical six-step process that ensures the best possible tuning

Opening and Disassembly
We open the bandoneon and remove the reed blocks, using specific tools for both steps. Then we carefully remove the leathers (reed valves) to preserve the integrity of the instrument.

Deep Cleaning
We clean the reed blocks. Then the reeds, one by one, inside and out, including the channels. It is a meticulous, thorough process and the starting point in the search for the best sound.

Reed Inspection
Each reed is inspected precisely. We check the condition and soundness of the reeds, their centering and their opening. In this step we correct the first noises and sound defects.

Calibration and Leathers
We fit new leathers (reed valves) calibrated to each reed's shape. We check the pins, the position of the reed blocks and the condition of the internal chambers.

Setting the Pitch
We begin tuning at the desired frequency. The most requested is usually A = 442 Hz, but we can tune to A = 440 Hz or whatever suits the player's musical needs.

Final Check, Seal and Warranty
We go over every note one last time. Finally, we compare intervals using octaves, fifths and tenths. We apply the Bilbao seal as a guarantee of the work done. Our tunings come with a one-year warranty.
